Bought this item new to replace my PS3. Dead easy to set up no nonsense stuff, all i can say its knocks the ps3 into a cocked hat. Up scaling on normal dvd's is fantastic a lot clearer and sharper than anything i have seen previously. Excellent value for money, picture quality is exceptional. Recomend if your thinking of buying a blu ray player this is the one to get.

As a noob to blu-ray I was looking for a cheap, entry level player with a good spec. After reading review after review of this player I parted with my hard earned cash, purchased this machine and guess what? this is better than I expected. A feature packed player which offers great sound and picture quality on blu-ray and dvd upscaling. The only downside is I will now be kissing my wages goodbye on blu-ray discs. Highly recommended.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars GREAT SONY QUALITY AT A GREAT PRICE

I decided to upgrade my Phillips DVD player to blu-ray after seeing a demo in a local store. I hadn't any intention of playing blu-ray discs - I just wanted to watch my existing DVD collection in near HD. This machine does not disappoint. From removing it from the box to watching a movie took me less than 5 minutes as the "handshake" between the player and my Sony Bravia HD telly was instantaneous.
The picture quality is superb and the sound is crisp and clear. The only slight niggle at first was the purring noise the disc makes when playing which sounds like a snoring cat . The discs don't take any longer to load than my old DVD player and you soon get used to the lack of an eject button on the remote control. All in all I think this is a cracking machine for the money (I got mine from Play for 99.99. ) Throughly recommended.
